Joyce is an Advocate of the High Court of Kenya and a member of the Law Society of Kenya and has been practising law in Nairobi, Kenya since admission in 2004. She was admitted into partnership in December 2007. She graduated from University of Nairobi with a Bachelor of Laws (Upper Second Class Honours) and is a CPS (K). She has undertaken a Corporate Governance Course through the Centre for Corporate Governance (Kenya).

She has practised as a Commercial lawyer and Civil Litigator for almost 12 years. She has undertaken and acquired experience in the preparation of commercial securities and other commercial instruments and documents, She has acquired experience as a Litigator in the Court of Appeal, High Court and in the Subordinate Courts handling briefs in various areas including Banking Law: Negotiable Instruments and other bearer instruments; Securities including legal mortgages, legal charges, guarantees and indemnities; Chattels mortgages; Hire purchase and debt collection and foreign exchange transactions.

  • Commercial Law & Company Secretarial – Incorporation and Registration of Companies, drafting contracts and agreements. Preparation of various other Company documents, Compliance and Corporate governance guidance.
  • Conveyancing – Preparation of Charges and Mortgages, Debentures, Leases, Transfers and Conveyances, Tenancy Agreements, Power of Attorney and Sale Agreements.
  • Intellectual Property – Registration, assignment and renewal of Trademarks in Kenya , Challenging/Defending Trademarks, registration of patent and industrial designs, payment of annual maintenance fees on behalf of clients. Advising clients on Intellectual Property rights protection and Intellectual Property Litigation.
  • Specialised Legal Consultant for Insurance Companies, in charge of providing Specifically tailored legal Consultancy services in; Insurance Litigation, Risk Assessment and Risk Management for claims, Claims audit, Claims Management and Settlement and Setting up office/legal systems for clients.
  • Labour Policies and Compliance – Legal advice on various Labour requirements and compliance including representing clients with trade disputes in various fora. Advised, drafted various collective bargaining agreements and represented clients in trade union negotiations on collective bargaining agreements, formulated labour and Human Resource policies and guidelines in some of our client’s corporations.
  • International and Local Consultancies - advise international and local organisations on legal, regulatory and compliance requirements in international commercial law, public management, governance and joint ventures.
