Kevin Dermot McCourt is a founding Partner of Kairu & McCourt Advocates. He started the firm in 1993 with the aim of offering a specialized, efficient, accountable and reliable legal practice. Today the firm still stands on the same principles and under his leadership, the firm has represented a wide range of clients both local and international including Individuals, Companies, Non-Governmental Organizations, Parastatals, various Government Departments and foreign Governments.

Kevin is a graduate of the University of North London and The Kenya School of Law. He was admitted as a Barrister of Lincolns Inn in 1985 and as an Advocate of the High Court of Kenya in November 1987. He has worked in London both in the private and public sectors, at Archer & Wilcock Advocates and at Kimani, Kairu & Company Advocates, before founding Kairu & McCourt Advocates.

He has further undergone professional training in Human Rights and Sectoral Studies focusing on Kenya’s future Policy Reforms from the International Commission of Jurists and from the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators, Alternative Dispute Resolution from California State University, Sacramento and Justice Advocacy from Justice Advocacy Africa and the Mombasa Law Society. He has been active in the Law Society of Kenya as a Council Member in 1992 and still serves on the Bar Bench Committee as well as the Rules Committee.

He has vast experience in Civil and Criminal Litigation, as well as Arbitration. He has undertaken Litigation in the Supreme Court, Court of Appeal, High Court, the Subordinate Courts. He also undertakes Arbitration and specializes in; Corporate - Commercial Law, Banking Law, Conveyancing and Land Law, Insurance Law and Contract Law.

Kevin is highly respected in the legal field with over 30 years’ experience. In that time he has acquired extensive experience in Policy making, Training, Consultancy, Active Litigation of a large array of complex matters, Alternative Dispute Resolution, and various Advisory Roles to a variety of Private Institutions and Government Corporations.
